RTD Photo Contest For Denver Union Station Light Rail Plaza

Friday is the deadline for RTD's DUS light rail station photo contest. For those who haven't heard about this contest, the details are below in an RTD press release.

Here is the press release. The lack of a significant award will no doubt leave some disinterested, but it may open up the contest to amateurs who otherwise wouldn't think they could win it and add the credit to their portfolio. Interested parties should check out the original announcement. They also may contact Peg Ekstrand at 720-231-9139 or pekstrand@crlassociates.com with any questions about the release.

Denver Union Station Light Rail Plaza Photo Contest Deadline June 1

DENVER, May 29, 2012- Denver CO—Area photographers still have a chance to capture the unique elements of the Denver Union Station (DUS) Light Rail Plaza and join the DUS Public Plaza Photo Contest. A few weeks ago, the Denver Union Station Project Authority (DUSPA) and Regional Transportation District (RTD) launched a photo contest in conjunction with the opening of the new light rail plaza.

Photographers are encouraged to use the light rail station and plaza for inspiration – from landscapes and views of downtown to the iconic venting tubes and transportation architecture elements – in photographs that highlight downtown Denver’s newest public space.

To submit a photograph, or for more information, visit the Denver Union Station project website at denverunionstation.org.  Participants may enter up to three separate photographs. The deadline to enter photos is Friday, June 1, 2012.

Submission requirements:
  1. All submissions must be in digital form.  No slides, prints, negatives or other non-digital submissions will be accepted.
  2. Photos should have a high resolution to ensure good print quality.
  3. Either TIFF or JPEG format are acceptable.
The top entry in this year's photo contest will win a  goodie bag provided by local merchants and will be featured on the web and in print materials, including RTD’s Annual Report to the Region. Other favorite photos will be featured on the project website.

Denver Union Station (DUS) will serve as a multimodal transportation hub, integrating light rail, commuter rail, and intercity rail (Amtrak), as well as regional, express, and local bus service, the 16th Street Mall shuttle, Downtown Circulator, and intercity buses, taxis, shuttles, vans, limousines, bicycles and pedestrians. The DUS redevelopment project is part of RTD’s FasTracks transit expansion program.
