Tennessee Pass Update: Rust, Dust, Weeds and Little Else

If you wonder, like I sometimes do, what Tennessee Pass looks like about now, with all the aspens aglow and fluttering in the early fall breezes, head on over to Colorado Railfan and check out Kevin Morgan's pictures taken just last Saturday. The rails are 15 years rusted and the signals are shot, but the colors are beautiful!

Tennessee Pass remains "rail banked" by the Union Pacific, with no real change in status since 1997, one year after the UP-Rio Grande/SP merger. There have been few trains run all the way through and zero in the revenue column.

By the way, Colorado Railfan looks great with its overhaul. The colors are easy on the eyes and his search functions are significantly improved. Great job, Kevin! (and thanks for the graceful comment as well.)
